Maceio is a must visit and wonderful place for all travelers to Brazil. Maceio has amazing beaches, delicious food, and a great nightlife scene. Maceio’s Carnival celebration is one of the best in Brazil and should not be missed! Maceio has many restaurants that offer traditional Brazilian dishes such as seafood feijoada, moqueca de peixe, carne-de-sol com pirao e banana frita. For dessert try pastel de Santana or bolo do cacao! Maceio also offers fantastic surfing opportunities with some of the most beautiful waves in Brazil.

The beaches in Maceio are so beautiful because of the crystal-clear water and soft white sand. You can see the bottom of the ocean, and the sand is very soft, making it a great place to relax. Top 10 Beaches of Maceio and neighborhood

Praia do Gunga is the visiting card of Maceio, which was admitted to the Olympus of the 10 most beautiful beaches in all of Brazil. The 100-meter longshore offers crystal clear water, soft white sand and small waves. Located 800 meters from the city center, this beach is always crowded on Sundays and holidays.

This is the central beach of the village of Barra de Sao Miguel and is frequented mainly by locals and also by several fishermen. One of the most popular beaches in the Maceio Sea, the one in Pajucara has dinghy rides to the natural pools. They are formed at low tide between sandbanks and cliffs, 2 km from the coast, which is the main attraction of this beach. The area around the beach is known for the beautiful craft market that’s located there. People come from all over to purchase souvenirs and artifacts.

The beach offers kiosks and restaurants for catering. Maceio is a city where cooking fish is a tradition. The most popular dish is the moqueca, made with coconut milk, dende oil, onion, garlic, and tomatoes. The recipe varies from one region to another, but it’s always a stew made with fish or shrimp. The beach also has the possibility of pedaling on a cycling path or jogging, which are healthy activities to do.


Ipioca Beach is located just 20 kilometers from Maceio. It’s a great place for swimming, sunbathing and enjoying the views. The beach is also known for its excellent waves, which make it a great place for surfing. On this beach, you can also admire the rich diversity of flora and fauna, in addition to swimming in the calm waters. The water is crystal clear and green.

Praia do Toque is a beach located in the locality of Sao Miguel dos Milagres, about 60 kilometers from Maceio. The beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and the fact that it’s a great place to see dolphins.

The white sand and the greenish transparency of the water make it a beautiful place to relax. The beach is also an excellent place for swimming, sunbathing and fishing. At low tide, the environment is really special, with pools between sandbanks and cliffs. It’s a great place to take a walk and enjoy the views. Between the shore and the reef itself, there are in fact several traces of corals that are interesting for the colorful species of fish inhabiting the waters.

One of the main attractions of this place are the “sirens”, locally called, the “peixes boi”: commonly referred to as manatees. These mammals are a type of sea cow and are considered an endangered species. They can weigh up to 1,500 pounds and measure up to 10 feet in length. They are herbivores and can be found in coastal waters and rivers. They can be visited in a protected area a few kilometers from Sao Miguel.

Please note if you plan to visit them, we recommend booking beforehand because the visits are limited to a certain number of visitors every day. In case you plan to visit praja do toque a visit of the manatees, an unforgettable experience, is a must-do.

Peixe Boi - Manatee

Dunas de Marapé is a natural wonder where the sea meets the river. It’s a rainbow of hues that ranges from green to blue. The unique environment is formed by the freshness of the sea and river, which combine to create a distinctive landscape. This oasis is just 65 kilometers from Maceio and offers with a mixture of dunes, crags and wonderful nature an incredible spot. The water is changing from green to blue.

Colorful sand is said to be found on the top of the cliffs. The mangrove forest that surrounds the entire border serves as an important natural nursery for a variety of fish species, crustaceans, and shellfish. For those who enjoy nature and unspoiled surroundings, a brief trip will take you to the Caetés path and Pau de Arara circuit, which are a great alternative for those seeking direct contact with nature.

The tip of land emerging from the sea in Maceio, called Ponta Verde, is covered by green coconut palms and is ideal for snorkeling or diving. The area is full of kiosks featuring live music, restaurants, hotels, and sandwich shops. The water here is clean and very tranquil, making it one of the finest urban beaches. A lovely walkway lined with kiosks where you may try seafood dishes extends along the beach. A lighthouse, which has become a symbol of the community and is one of the most photographed locations by tourists, can be found on the edge of the town. It shines with its unique simplicity at 11 m tall.

One of the most popular and up-and-coming areas in Maceio is Ponta Verde, which has some of the city’s best restaurants and hotels, as well as the area’s most exquisite structures.

Praia da Barra de Camaragibe beach is noted for its crystal clear water, fine sand and coral reefs.
